Megan Conley was born and raised in Calgary, Canada where she completed her undergraduate degree in Painting at the Alberta College of Art + Design. She currently resides in Buffalo, New York where she is completing her MFA in Visual Studies, Emerging Practices and has been apart of exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Australia. Conley's work explores her self defining experience and facial and dental deformity and the correction process that was implemented over a ten year period. Her themes of interest range from identity construction, beauty versus the grotesque, abjection, mapping of the face, and topology. She investigate challenging societies pressure of being beautiful towards women and instead go against this, creating images that are uncanny, disturbing and disfigured.
